Dr. Surin Pitsuwan
Chairman - Future Innovative
Dr. Surin Pitsuwan is a native of Nakorn Sri Thammarat, Southern Thailand. He holds an MA and Ph.D. in political science and Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University.
After completing his education in the U.S., he returned to Thailand in to assume a teaching position at Thammasat. He successfully ran for Parliament two years later. As an MP, he was appointed Secretary to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary to Deputy Minister of Interior, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He served as chair of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and the chair of the ASEAN Regional Forum. While the ASEAN chair, he led the efforts to get Southeast Asian governments to help restore law and order, and that joint undertaking–with the support of the United Nations and the international community–brought about peace and security in East Timor.
Upon leaving the foreign affairs portfolio in mid-2001, Dr. Surin was appointed a member of the Commission on Human Security of the United Nations. He also served as an advisor to the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty and on the ILO’s World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization until 2004. He was appointed Member of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) before assuming his post as the Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from 1 January 2008 until 31 December 2012. During that period he was tasked to implement the ASEAN Charter and prepare the region to enter into the ASEAN Community in 2015.
He is now engaged in the promotion of regional integration in East Asia, educational and political reform efforts in Thailand and a frequent speaker at various international conferences.

Kei is a Japanese American entrepreneur from New York. After working for global companies big and small to shape his unique yet diverse professional skill sets, he successfully launched and ran one of Japan’s first multinational mobile strategy firms, Infinita.
Throughout his career, Kei has focused on helping companies around the globe redefine existing product and service strategies, develop and execute market entry strategies, enhance existing revenue streams or create new ones from the ground up.
Since 2012, he is Global Director of Innovation and Business Development at Dentsu’s innovation arm focusing on both initiating and leading a Dentsu Aegis groupwide innovation initiative while creating new solutions around wearables, neural technology, locational big data and crisis management infrastructures, going beyond the traditional advertising business to cultivate new business models that generate revenue. He also has several patents pending.
Kei has recently been appointed to the role of Chief Lab Officer of dmLab, Dentsu medias’ innovation lab spanning 5 countries in South East Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

KORN CHATIKAVANIJ is currently chairman of Thailand Democrat Party Policy Unit and chairman of Thai Fintech Association. Korn served as Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. Previously, he was president and chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand) from 2000 to 2004.
Much of Korn Chatikavanij’s career was spent in the finance sector since his early age at SG Warburg, London. He then co-founded JF Thanakom Securities with Jardine Fleming and was its president for 11 years. After the merger of Jardine Fleming and JP Morgan, he became president and subsequently chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand). He left to run for Bangkok Member of Parliament in October 2004.
In December 2009, Korn Chatikavanij received “Global Finance Minister of the Year 2010” and “Asia-Pacific Finance Minister of the Year 2010” awards from the Banker (an affiliated publication of the Financial Times).
Korn Chatikavanij graduated with BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from St. John’s College, University of Oxford.

Mike Peng is a managing director of IDEO Tokyo. He joined IDEO in 2006 and moved to Tokyo in 2011. Mike is passionate about IDEO being a creative catalyst for change in Japan. He believes that unlocking people’s innate creative ability will be the key to helping Japan become more innovative.
As co-Managing Director, Mike works with colleagues to set the strategic direction of the business in Japan, mentor designers, and lead client relationships and projects. Industries Mike has worked on range from education and hospitality to financial services, food & beverages, and consumer electronics. He is also a visiting lecturer at Tokyo University, Keio University, and Kyushu University.
Before moving to Tokyo, Mike helped start IDEO’s office in New York. He led several projects and experimented with new methods in design research and storytelling to stretch the Human Factors practice. He also worked as an adjunct professor at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, teaching public policy, urban planning, and nonprofit management students how to use design thinking to solve complex problems.
Prior to joining IDEO, Mike was a senior informatics analyst at Johnson & Johnson where he worked on the global strategy, user interface design, laboratory informatics, and process excellence initiatives in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. He also trained as a Six Sigma black belt.
Mike graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in cognitive science and an emphasis in neuroscience. In his spare time, he plays tennis competitively (his high-school court is named after him!) and is an amateur hip-hop dancer who finds solace in reality TV and celebrity gossip.
