Biography

Brett King is a five times Amazon bestselling author, a renowned commentator and globally respected speaker on the future of business. He has spoken in over 40 countries, to half a million people, on how technology is disrupting business, changing behavior and influencing society. He has spoken at TED conferences, given opening keynotes for Wired, Singularity University’s Exponential Finance, The Economist and many more. Brook Porter

Biography

A respected investor, advisor and entrepreneur at the intersection of technology and sustainability, Brook Porter brings decades of energy, transportation and agriculture expertise to G2VP as a founding partner.

Since joining Kleiner Perkins in 2010, Brook has led investments within the Green Growth Fund in Farmers Edge (shares acquired), Turo, Uber, DJI and sits on the board of Proterra.

A serial entrepreneur, Brook co-founded two sustainable transportation companies prior to joining Kleiner Perkins: Intelligent Energy, a fuel cell technology company and Primafuel, a low-carbon fuels company. Brook’s roles in both companies ranged from R&D to leading engineering and operations to drive multiple financings for the company.

Brook holds a B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, with an emphasis in environmental technology. He is named on multiple U.S. and international patents in the field of renewable energy and transportation.

Dr. Gang Lu

Biography

Gang Lu is the founder and chief editor at Technode.com, a leading China tech blog that targets to bridge the Chinese technology sector and the English speaking world. He is the guest editor of the world’s top web2.0 blog ReadWriteWeb.com. Technode was known as Mobinode.com, his personal blog, which covered the Internet market news in Asia especially in China and was also voted as the best China Tech Blog in 2007 and 2008.

Gang Lu has MSc, Ph.D. in wireless communications. He is Internet expert, China Internet Strategist, known the speaker, co-founder of OpenWeb.Asia Workgroup. OpenWeb.Asia is the first independent workgroup focusing on Asia Internet industry and is also the organizer of OpenWebAsia conference which is the first truly pan-Asia web technology event bringing together executives, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists from throughout Asia.

Dr. Surin Pitsuwan

Chairman - Future Innovative

Biography

Dr. Surin Pitsuwan is a native of Nakorn Sri Thammarat, Southern Thailand. He holds an MA and Ph.D. in political science and Middle Eastern studies from Harvard University.
After completing his education in the U.S., he returned to Thailand in to assume a teaching position at Thammasat. He successfully ran for Parliament two years later. As an MP, he was appointed Secretary to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Secretary to Deputy Minister of Interior, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He served as chair of the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting and the chair of the ASEAN Regional Forum. While the ASEAN chair, he led the efforts to get Southeast Asian governments to help restore law and order, and that joint undertaking–with the support of the United Nations and the international community–brought about peace and security in East Timor.

Upon leaving the foreign affairs portfolio in mid-2001, Dr. Surin was appointed a member of the Commission on Human Security of the United Nations. He also served as an advisor to the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty and on the ILO’s World Commission on the Social Dimension of Globalization until 2004. He was appointed Member of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) before assuming his post as the Secretary-General of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) from 1 January 2008 until 31 December 2012. During that period he was tasked to implement the ASEAN Charter and prepare the region to enter into the ASEAN Community in 2015.

He is now engaged in the promotion of regional integration in East Asia, educational and political reform efforts in Thailand and a frequent speaker at various international conferences.

Ghela Boskovich

Biography

Ghela is active in the fintech industry, having spent the last ten years focused on business development for core insurance and banking system solutions, the last half of which has centered on financial services pricing governance functionality. Ghela also founded FemTechGlobal to bridge the gender gap in fintech and the financial services industry and was named one of Brummell Magazine’s 2016 ‘30 Inspirational Women Innovators’, and included in Innovate Finance’s Women in Fintech Powerlist 2016. She is a regular contributor to fintech publications and discussions, specializing in dynamic pricing and customer centricity. Ghela is Head of Fintech/Regtech Partnerships at Rainmaking, home of Startupbootcamp.

Kei Shimada

Global Director of Innovation & BD of Dentsu Inc

Biography

Kei is a Japanese American entrepreneur from New York. After working for global companies big and small to shape his unique yet diverse professional skill sets, he successfully launched and ran one of Japan’s first multinational mobile strategy firms, Infinita.

Throughout his career, Kei has focused on helping companies around the globe redefine existing product and service strategies, develop and execute market entry strategies, enhance existing revenue streams or create new ones from the ground up.

Since 2012, he is Global Director of Innovation and Business Development at Dentsu’s innovation arm focusing on both initiating and leading a Dentsu Aegis groupwide innovation initiative while creating new solutions around wearables, neural technology, locational big data and crisis management infrastructures, going beyond the traditional advertising business to cultivate new business models that generate revenue. He also has several patents pending.

Kei has recently been appointed to the role of Chief Lab Officer of dmLab, Dentsu medias’ innovation lab spanning 5 countries in South East Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Kei is also one of the most sought-after keynote speaker and mentor on neural tech, mobile, ICT, and wearables. He has given keynote presentations in 20+ countries around the globe at prominent events such as Mobile World Congress, Mobile Marketing Association, Ad:Tech, TNW Conference (Amsterdam, São Paulo) and Social Media Week to name a few.

Finally, Kei is the WSA country expert for Japan for both mContent and eContent applications, selected by the WSA (World Summit Awards) Board of Directors in 2010 and is also a member of the Grand Jurors selected from 191 countries belonging to the United Nations.

Korn Chatikavanij

Chairman of Thai Fintech Association

Biography

KORN CHATIKAVANIJ is currently chairman of Thailand Democrat Party Policy Unit and chairman of Thai Fintech Association. Korn served as Finance Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand from 2008 to 2011. Previously, he was president and chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand) from 2000 to 2004.

Much of Korn Chatikavanij’s career was spent in the finance sector since his early age at SG Warburg, London. He then co-founded JF Thanakom Securities with Jardine Fleming and was its president for 11 years. After the merger of Jardine Fleming and JP Morgan, he became president and subsequently chairman of JP Morgan Securities (Thailand). He left to run for Bangkok Member of Parliament in October 2004.

In December 2009, Korn Chatikavanij received “Global Finance Minister of the Year 2010” and “Asia-Pacific Finance Minister of the Year 2010” awards from the Banker (an affiliated publication of the Financial Times).

Korn Chatikavanij graduated with BA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) from St. John’s College, University of Oxford.

Michelle Duval

Biography

As a pioneer into new forms of learning, Michelle helped found the field of professional coaching in Australia in 1997 and became a leading voice forging developmental and transformational coaching worldwide.

She has co-authored two international handbooks on coaching, is featured in 10+ books, and is sought out by media as a leading voice in the fields of coaching and entrepreneurship.
As an unexpected researcher, she led a groundbreaking longitudinal scientific study (20-year) of founders at various stages of their business evolution, including a sample who failed and those who sold their businesses for between $6m and $1.2b+.

Using her experience and research, she led a team to create Fingerprint for Success, a web application and community that assists entrepreneurs, investors, and enterprise to illuminate entrepreneurial talent and diagnose blind spots while also providing resources to improve their venture success.

Within Equilibrio, the first business Michelle founded, she and a team of behavioral and developmental coaches work both personally and professionally with individuals and organizations.

Michelle’s personal specialty as a coach is working with entrepreneurs thought leaders, CEOs, and creative artists; such as writers, producers, and actors. She has coached thousands of individuals locally and internationally.

Birthed out of her own personal experience with an aggressive life-threatening brain disease, Michelle’s personal cause, and mission is working with otherwise ‘incurable’ diseases by developing advanced coaching methodologies and the latest discoveries in neuroscience to facilitate well-being and even complete recovery.

Mike Peng

Managing director of IDEO Tokyo

Biography

Mike Peng is a managing director of IDEO Tokyo. He joined IDEO in 2006 and moved to Tokyo in 2011. Mike is passionate about IDEO being a creative catalyst for change in Japan. He believes that unlocking people’s innate creative ability will be the key to helping Japan become more innovative.

As co-Managing Director, Mike works with colleagues to set the strategic direction of the business in Japan, mentor designers, and lead client relationships and projects. Industries Mike has worked on range from education and hospitality to financial services, food & beverages, and consumer electronics. He is also a visiting lecturer at Tokyo University, Keio University, and Kyushu University.

Before moving to Tokyo, Mike helped start IDEO’s office in New York. He led several projects and experimented with new methods in design research and storytelling to stretch the Human Factors practice. He also worked as an adjunct professor at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service, teaching public policy, urban planning, and nonprofit management students how to use design thinking to solve complex problems.

Prior to joining IDEO, Mike was a senior informatics analyst at Johnson & Johnson where he worked on the global strategy, user interface design, laboratory informatics, and process excellence initiatives in the medical device and pharmaceutical sectors. He also trained as a Six Sigma black belt.

Mike graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in cognitive science and an emphasis in neuroscience. In his spare time, he plays tennis competitively (his high-school court is named after him!) and is an amateur hip-hop dancer who finds solace in reality TV and celebrity gossip.
